Once an artist, always an artist.
I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember.
Whether I was supposed to or not - I still have many of the doodles and comics I wrote while in chemistry class (who needs to understand scientific notation anyway?). As a kid in Colorado, I was inspired by Calvin and Hobbes, Jan Brett’s beautiful children’s books, and my own life. I always strove to put what was in my head on the canvas. This eventually led me to attend and graduate Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2013, where I learned valuable lessons as an artist and, as a bonus, met the love of my life.
Similar to art, animals have always been there for me.
I was never without a cat, dog, hamster, bird, or even lizard. I have found soul connections in my furry companions and never-ending joy in the wonder of animals. I understand more than anyone what it is like to have a fluffy friend comfort me through tough times, and experience joy together through good times. I have lost many of them throughout the years, but know that it is worth it ten times over to give them the life they truly deserve.
I truly became a professional artist when I followed my inner child.
For many of us, 2020 and onward has been a time of transformation, and that has been especially true for me. I’ve been through a marriage, divorce, coming out, and a layoff. I realized after so long of choosing safety, I was deprived of the needs and wants of my authentic self. I chose art, and once again have the joy of capturing your animal sidekicks on canvas. I love to get to know your furbabies, living and long gone, through the unique experience of memorializing them forever in paint. Every sparkle in their eye, every button nose, and every whisker makes me indescribably happy.
